Exemptions

The Assessor's Office is responsible for reviewing application for property tax exemptions. We have a variety of different personal exemptions that can be applied to your real, tangible, or excise (motor vehicle) tax bill. Below is a list of exemptions, if you think you qualify, please see the details below regarding eligibility and the associated applications needed to apply.

Current 2023 Tax Rates and Exemption amounts.   

All applications and forms can be electronically submitted along with the relevant proof of eligibility via email, or you can mail them in.

 

  • Homestead Exemption- Property must be owner occupied as of 12/31
  • Over 65 Exemption - Property must be owner occupied as of 12/31.
  • Over 65 Exemption on Water bill, RI Surchage exemption 
  • Veterans/Widow of Veteran Exemption- Applicable on real estate first if you do not own real estate it can be applied to motor vehicle.
  • Total Service-Connected Disabled Vets- Applicable on real estate first if you do not own real estate it can be applied to motor vehicle.
  • Less Than 100% Service-Connected Disabled Vets - Applicable on owner occupied residential property.* New 2023 Tax Roll 
  • Prisoner of War- * New 2023 Tax Roll 
  • Gold Star Parent Exemption- Applicable on real estate first if you do not own real estate it can be applied to motor vehicle.
  • Veteran’s Modified Housing-Property must be owner occupied as of 12/31.
  • Certified 100% Blind Exemption-Property must be owner occupied as of 12/31.
  • Hardship Exemption-Property must be owner occupied as of 12/31.
