Homestead Exemption Information

The Homestead Exemption Application can be applied for by anyone who owns and occupies a residential property (single, two, or three family, also including residential condos) as their primary residence by 12/31, for the subsequent tax bill.

Amount of Tax Credit

For the 2021 Tax Roll the Homestead Exemption has increased from 13 % to 14% off the assessed value of your property.

How To Qualify For A Homestead Exemption

  • The property must be residential one, two, three family, or a residential condo
  • Applicants owned and occupied the property as primary residence by 12/31
  • Applicants must submit two of the following for proof along with submital of the application
    • Valid RI Drivers License- MANDATORY if you have one
    • Motor Vehicle Registration MANDATORY if you have one
    • and/or Voter
    • If for some reason you do not have the proof mentioned above call our office to discuss 401-435-7574, or email us assessor@eastprovidenceri.gov
  • If you or a spouse own multiple properties, you  CAN NOT be receiving any other owner occupied property exemption in any other community, or using any other address as your primary residence.
  • Application deadline NO later than March 15th
  • Please also submit the Sales Verification form along with this application
  • You DO NOT need to apply for this exemption annually, our office will notify you if we need you to re-apply

 

Please fill out this Homestead Exemption Application. Once your forms are completed return them to our office, by drop off or electronically.  Please don't forget to include all the appropriate proof!
