EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. — As housing affordability continues to drive conversations across Rhode Island, the City of East Providence is announcing a housing forum to bring municipal leaders, state and local housing organizations, and community members together for an open discussion.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Fire Department celebrated the promotion of 18 members of the fire service during a ceremony held on Wednesday, April 8, 2026.
While speaking to those in attendance, including those being promoted and their loved ones, Chief Michael Carey said, “Tonight is one of the most important traditions of the fire service. Promotions in our city are not simply about rank, but about responsibility, trust and continued commitment.”
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence, in collaboration with the East Providence Veterans Advisory Committee, is proud to announce the launch of our Military Banner Program.
This new initiative is designed to honor and recognize local veterans and active duty service members for their service and sacrifice.
The program will feature personalized banners displayed throughout the city, each bearing the name of a service member along with their branch of service.
WASHINGTON DC – In an effort to strengthen affordable housing options for more Rhode Islanders, U.S. Senator Jack Reed today announced that twenty-four Rhode Island cities and towns will receive a total of $27,752,056 in federal funding through the Public Housing Capital Fund. Senator Reed led efforts at the federal level to make this money available to support the development, financing, and modernization of public housing projects and for management improvements.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The East Providence Recreation Department will hold the 71st annual Dorman “Dolly” Searle Golf Tournament on Monday, June 8, 2026.
The event will take place at the Agawam Hunt Club, 15 Roger Williams Ave., Rumford.
The entry fee is $440 per foursome and includes greens fees, carts, lunch and prizes. Registration opens Wednesday, April 15, 2026.
In-person registration will be accepted at the Recreation Department main office, 610 Waterman Ave., beginning at 8:30 a.m. April 15. Register online at eastprovidence.recdesk.com.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – On Tuesday, March 17th, the East Providence City Council gave final passage on a new zoning ordinance that will create more affordable housing opportunities throughout the city. This decision came following a 4 to 1 vote approved by Council President Bob Rodericks, Council Vice President Frank Rego, Ward 3 Councilman Frank Fogerty, and Ward 2 Councilwoman Anna Sousa.
