EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, Mayor Bob DaSilva and East Providence Police Chief Christopher Francesconi announced a new Police Officer Recruiting Bonus Program in hopes of continuing to make the department more competitive and help recruit new officers.

The City of East Providence is offering a $5K bonus to new police applicants as an incentive to attract more interest.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The East Providence Department of Public Works will be collecting and chipping Christmas trees for use as mulch for City projects. Residents have the option of dropping off trees or curbside collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – In an effort to further improve upon and alleviate stormwater flooding issues, East Providence has been awarded a $225,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant.

This grant will be used to conduct a hydraulic analysis to see what changes must be made to avoid flooding in vulnerable parts of the City.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, the state’s central hub for financing infrastructure improvements for municipalities, businesses and homeowners has awarded the City of East Providence $480,188 in a Municipal Infrastructure grant.

The Municipal Infrastructure grant funds will be used to implement necessary public infrastructure toward the Center City Apartments, an affordable housing development by ONE Neighborhood Builders.

The disaster declaration includes the following counties: Bristol, Newport, Kent, Providence, and Washington in Rhode Island; New London and Windham in Connecticut; Bristol, Norfolk, and Worcester in Massachusetts.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The East Providence Public Works Department, Recycling/Refuse Division announces that all household rubbish, regularly collected on Wednesday, Dec. 25, 2024, will be collected on Thursday, Dec. 26, 2024 due to the Christmas Holiday.

Collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed one day.

Household rubbish and recycling, regularly collected on Wednesday, Jan. 1, 2025 will be collected on Thursday, Jan. 2, 2025 due to the New Year holiday.
