DEPARTMENT FUNCTIONS

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence is continuing to monitor forecasts indicating extreme heat throughout the rest of the week of June 30, 2026.

Considering this, the city has opened three cooling centers throughout East Providence and will have those open to the public through Friday, July 3rd.

Those locations include the East Providence Senior Center located at 610 Waterman Ave., Weaver Library located at 41 Grove Ave. and the Riverside Library located at 475 Bullocks Point Ave.

Residents are asked to have containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.

Bulky item collection will still be collected on Friday, July 10, 2026.

The following application for Unified Development Review will be heard in accordance with Article 12 and Rhode Island General Law State Law 45-23-50.1.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – With summer right around the corner, it’s time to think about keeping children healthy while school is out. East Providence Recreation provides free meals for children during the summer.

This summer, meals will be served at Pierce Field, 201 Mercer Street, Onna Moniz- John Park, 11 McCausland Ave, and Providence Avenue, 49 Sunset Avenue on June 29- August 28,2026 at 11:00am -1:00pm. There are no income requirements. Any child under age 18 may come to eat. For more information, contact The Recreation Department at 401-435-7511.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. - Newly available at East Providence Public Library from NewsBank, the Providence Journal Historical Archive covers content from 1829 through today, including the Evening Bulletin (1863-1981). The Providence Journal Historical Archive can be accessed in the library or 24/7 at home for free with a library card via eastprovidencelibrary.org. These new databases can be used to access a range of digitized historical articles, images, and advertisements for genealogy and local history research.
