EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – On Tuesday, March 17th, the East Providence City Council gave final passage on a new zoning ordinance that will create more affordable housing opportunities throughout the city. This decision came following a 4 to 1 vote approved by Council President Bob Rodericks, Council Vice President Frank Rego, Ward 3 Councilman Frank Fogerty, and Ward 2 Councilwoman Anna Sousa.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI-Mattress and/or box spring, two pieces or one set, per household, are collected on scheduled Saturdays by appointment only. Fee for curbside collection is $25 each piece.

Residents can schedule a pick-up by submitting a service request or calling the Recycling Office at 401-435-7701.

Mattress collections can be scheduled during March through December. No collections in January and February.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI - The City of East Providence is celebrating the achievements of women in East Providence and throughout the world by proclaiming March Women’s History Month and March 8, 2026, International Women’s Day in East Providence.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Blizzard of 2026, and a scheduling conflict with the City’s rubbish collection vendor, MEGA, there will be no recycling collection the week of March 2nd through March 6th.
The Department of Public Works located at 60 Commercial Way will be accepting recycling drop-offs through next week from 7:30AM to 3:00PM to help alleviate burdened bins.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the ongoing cleanup from the record-setting Blizzard of 2026, and the continuing parking ban, there will be no rubbish collection for the remainder of the week. Rubbish collection will resume on Monday, March 2, 2026.
Residents are asked to have rubbish containers at the curb by 6 A.M. for collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE – On Tuesday, February 17th the East Providence City Council gave final passage to a new tax exemption that will create more affordable housing opportunities throughout the city.

The tax exemption, known as the live/work affordable deed restricted properties classification, will now give those who own a residence in which they own and operate a business within the same premise they live, a tax exemption.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the President’s Day holiday there will be no rubbish collection on Monday, Feb. 16, 2026. Monday’s rubbish will be collected on Tuesday, Feb. 17, 2026 and rubbish collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day.
Residents are asked to have rubbish containers at the curb by 6 A.M. for collection.
