$63,000 in grants aims to help residents of all ages, especially older adults, improve how they live, move, and stay connected in their neighborhoods through innovative local projects
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence is continuing to monitor forecasts indicating extreme heat throughout the early part of the week of June 23, 2025.
Considering this, the city has opened three cooling centers throughout East Providence. Those locations include the East Providence Senior Center located at 610 Waterman Ave., Weaver Library located at 41 Grove Ave. and the Riverside Library located at 475 Bullocks Point Ave.
All three cooling centers will be open through Wednesday.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence is launching a second round of grant funding for those businesses that did not have the opportunity to apply the first time around.
East Providence, RI – The East Providence Police Department announces that Deputy Chief Michael Rapoza has graduated as a member of the 294th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on June 5th, 2025. Nationally, fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers have the opportunity to attend the National Academy program.
2025 Juneteenth Holiday Rubbish collection delay
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Juneteenth holiday there will be no rubbish, recycling and yard waste collection on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Thursday’s rubbish, recycling and yard waste will be collected on Friday, June 20, 2025 and rubbish, recycling and yard waste collections for Friday, June 20th will be collected on Saturday, June 21st. Residents are asked to have rubbish, recycling and yard waste containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.
EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The City of East Providence will be mailing out the 2025 tax bills starting Monday, June 2nd and residents can expect their bills in their mailboxes by the first week of June. The first quarter due date is July 1st, 2025 and any residents who make payments in full on or before July 1, 2025 will receive a 1.5% discount.
