EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (June 17, 2025) - The East Providence Fire Department has become the first in the United States to purchase and use non-PFAS turnout gear department-wide—an industry milestone achieved through a collaborative partnership with protective gear manufacturer Fire-Dex and textile innovator Milliken & Company.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI (June 17, 2025) - The East Providence Fire Department has become the first in the United States to purchase and use non-PFAS turnout gear department-wide—an industry milestone achieved through a collaborative partnership with protective gear manufacturer Fire-Dex and textile innovator Milliken & Company.

East Providence, RI – The East Providence Police Department announces that Deputy Chief Michael Rapoza has graduated as a member of the 294th session of the FBI National Academy. The graduation took place at the National Academy in Quantico, Virginia, on June 5th, 2025.  Nationally, fewer than one percent of law enforcement officers have the opportunity to attend the National Academy program. 

2025 Juneteenth Holiday Rubbish collection delay

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Juneteenth holiday there will be no rubbish, recycling and yard waste collection on Thursday, June 19, 2025. Thursday’s rubbish, recycling and yard waste will be collected on Friday, June 20, 2025 and rubbish, recycling and yard waste collections for Friday, June 20th will be collected on Saturday, June 21st. Residents are asked to have rubbish, recycling and yard waste containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Gov. Dan McKee and Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner joined Mayor Bob DaSilva at Sacred Heart Church in East Providence on Thursday to announce the awarding of $50,000 in grants for the 2025 cultural feast season.

“We are excited that this summer's feast organizations are the recipients of this RI Rebounds grant and we thank Governor McKee and Secretary Tanner for their continued support,” Mayor Bob DaSilva said.
