EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – After a request for proposal (RFP), the City of East Providence has hired Westport, Massachusetts-based company TNT Gravestone Solutions to repair 112 grave markers and two box tombs at Newman Cemetery.

The City of East Providence will use $50,000 of American Rescue Plan Act (ARPA) funds to pay for the restoration efforts.

Newman Cemetery, owned by the City and listed on the National Register of Historic Places, is one of East Providence’s most valuable historical and cultural resources.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, Mayor Bob DaSilva and East Providence Police Chief Christopher Francesconi announced a new Police Officer Recruiting Bonus Program in hopes of continuing to make the department more competitive and help recruit new officers.

The City of East Providence is offering a $5K bonus to new police applicants as an incentive to attract more interest.

After Reed Delivers Federal Funding, East Providence Families in Flood Prone Properties Begin to Get Their Voluntary Home Buyouts

 

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Today, U.S. Senator Jack Reed commended the U.S. Department of Agriculture’s (USDA) Natural Resources Conservation Service (NRCS), Rhode Island Association of Conservation Districts (RIACD), and East Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva and his staff for teaming up to help residents relocate out of flood-prone areas.

 

EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. –The East Providence Department of Public Works will be collecting and chipping Christmas trees for use as mulch for City projects. Residents have the option of dropping off trees or curbside collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – In an effort to further improve upon and alleviate stormwater flooding issues, East Providence has been awarded a $225,000 Federal Emergency Management Agency (FEMA) Building Resilient Infrastructure and Communities (BRIC) grant.

This grant will be used to conduct a hydraulic analysis to see what changes must be made to avoid flooding in vulnerable parts of the City.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The Rhode Island Infrastructure Bank, the state’s central hub for financing infrastructure improvements for municipalities, businesses and homeowners has awarded the City of East Providence $480,188 in a Municipal Infrastructure grant.

The Municipal Infrastructure grant funds will be used to implement necessary public infrastructure toward the Center City Apartments, an affordable housing development by ONE Neighborhood Builders.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – In a step that could ease traffic congestion and improve public safety in the neighborhoods near the Washington Bridge, U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressman Gabe Amo today announced a new federal grant to inform future upgrades to key infrastructure and technology related to traffic control along the City of East Providence’s most trafficked roadways.

The U.S. Small Business Administration (SBA) encourages small businesses, small agricultural cooperatives, small businesses engaged in aquaculture, and most private nonprofit organizations in Rhode Island with economic losses due to severe storms and flooding on Jan. 9-13, to apply for working capital disaster loans before the Dec. 23 deadline.

The disaster declaration includes the following counties: Bristol, Newport, Kent, Providence, and Washington in Rhode Island; New London and Windham in Connecticut; Bristol, Norfolk, and Worcester in Massachusetts.
