EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Mayor Bob DaSilva has signed the fiscal year 2025-2026 budget ordinance adopted by the East Providence City Council by a vote of 4-1 during the
October 8, 2025, City Council meeting. The $205,100,061.00 budget reflects the administration’s tight fiscal management while also continuing to provide all of services that East Providence residents expect.
The latest round of grants aligns with the state’s math and attendance campaigns as RI sees math scores rising and attendance improving
PROVIDENCE, RI – Governor Dan McKee, Commissioner Angélica Infante-Green, and the Rhode Island Department of Education (RIDE) today announced the awarding of the fourth round of Learn365RI grants, which will provide 38 communities with $1,390,000 in funding aimed at improving math skills and student attendance as part of the state’s Math and Attendance Matters campaigns.
East Providence, RI – Mayor Bob DaSilva has announced that East Providence Chief of Staff Patricia Resende is embarking on a new career path. She has accepted the role as the Director of the Rhode Island Senate Policy Office. Resende will remain in her position with the DaSilva Administration until Nov. 6, 2025.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Recreation Department invites students in grades 4-6 to join Tech Titans! A hands-on after school STEM program running from October 22 to November 26, 2025. Each session will be held Wednesday’s from 4:30-6:00pm at the East Providence Senior Center, located at 610 Waterman Ave.
The objective of this program is to provide children with the opportunity to explore real-world scientific topics, technology, engineering, and math through creative and interactive projects with peers.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The city of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Columbus Day holiday there will be no rubbish or yard waste collection on Monday, Oct. 13, 2025. Monday’s rubbish and yard waste will be collected on Tuesday, Oct. 14, 2025 and rubbish and recycling collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day.
Residents are asked to have rubbish and yard waste containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.
Bulky item collection remains the same, collection will be Friday, October 17, 2025.

Carlos Zambrano has been appointed as IT Director for the City of East Providence. Zambrano will be responsible for and oversee the city’s IT Department while managing, coordinating, and supporting technology across the city.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Recreation Department announces a continuing partnership with Kindermotion to bring comprehensive movement programs to local families. The collaboration will offer six different classes designed for children ages 2-8, combining dance, gymnastics, and sports activities to promote physical development, creativity, and confidence. The new seven-week session runs from October 21 through December 16 (no class 11/11&11/25), with all classes held on Tuesdays at the East Providence Recreation Center, located at 610 Waterman Ave.
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI- The City of East Providence honored the late Avelino “Chappy” Rose with a street dedication ceremony on Saturday, September 27, 2025.
Avelino Rose who is affectionately known as “Chappy” was born on March 21, 1924 in the City of East Providence and was the eldest of four children born to Jose DaRosa of the island of Fogo and Annie Brito Rose of the island of Brava (both part of the Cabo Verde archipelago).
