EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Gov. Dan McKee and Secretary of Commerce Liz Tanner joined Mayor Bob DaSilva at Sacred Heart Church in East Providence on Thursday to announce the awarding of $50,000 in grants for the 2025 cultural feast season.

“We are excited that this summer's feast organizations are the recipients of this RI Rebounds grant and we thank Governor McKee and Secretary Tanner for their continued support,” Mayor Bob DaSilva said.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Administration is taking a proactive approach to affordable and fully accessible housing.

The City is proposing changes to its current Zoning Ordinance, which will create a requirement that any future development of 10 housing units or more includes 20 percent deed-restricted, affordable and fully accessible housing.

While the city’s Waterfront District has had an inclusionary zoning ordinance that requires 10 percent of affordable housing, the administration is seeking to expand it to 20 percent citywide.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Memorial Day holiday, there will be no rubbish or yard waste collection on Monday, May 26, 2025. Monday’s rubbish and yard waste will be collected on Tuesday, May 27, 2025, and rubbish and yard waste collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. Residents are asked to have rubbish and yard waste containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.

Bulky item collection remains the same, collection Friday, May 30, 2025.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence, Robert Rock Senior Center, was named an LGBTQ+ Safe Zone by the Blue Cross Blue Shield of Rhode Island.

Following the tremendous success of last year’s inaugural event, which featured 39 participating establishments, this citywide celebration will once again showcase the diverse culinary scene of East Providence.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – East Providence is implementing a new design for the city’s monthly water and sewer bills.

The new outline clearly shows residents exactly what they are being charged. The new water bills highlight how much is being spent on water, sewer, and other fees that may be accrued.

While many municipalities bill water and sewer separately, the City of East Providence combines the two into one billing system.
