EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – On June 28, 2023, members of the East Providence Police Department’s Special Investigation Unit conducted a narcotics search warrant at 217 Providence Avenue. The court-ordered search warrant was executed after an extensive investigation that followed numerous complaints of possible narcotics distribution from the residence. During the investigation, investigators identified the male suspect as Ali Moniz, age 30, of that address. Moniz is known to investigators due to several previous investigations.

Special Investigation Unit investigators arrested Moniz as he left the residence. A subsequent search of the residence and Moniz revealed approximately 26 grams of cocaine packaged for sale, digital scales, packaging materials, and approximately $2,000.00 in United States currency. Moniz was brought to the East Providence Police Department where he was booked on the following charges.

  • Possession with Intent to Deliver Cocaine
  • Distribution or Manufacturing Narcotics Near a School or Playground
  • Maintaining a Common Nuisance for the Sale of Narcotics
