EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The East Providence Public Works Department, Recycling/Refuse Division announces that all household rubbish and yard waste regularly collected on Thursday, Nov. 28, 2024, will be collected on Friday, Nov. 29, 2024 due to the Thanksgiving Day holiday. All collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed one day. Regular collections will resume the week of December 2, 2024. Residents are asked to have all materials at the curb by 6 a.m. on the day of collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence held its fifth annual Veterans Day ceremony on Monday, November 11, 2024 at the Garden of Flags Memorial, founded and maintained by the East Providence Battle Monuments Foundation.

During the event, U.S. Army Lt. John Wolf and U.S. Army Sgt. Clarence Butler Jr., both East Providence residents, were presented with proclamations from Mayor Bob DaSilva and Governor Dan McKee.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The East Providence Public Works Department, Recycling/Refuse Division announces that the Forbes Street compost site will be open to residents on the following Saturdays in November 9, 16, 23, and 30 from 8 a.m. to 2 p.m. Residents may drop off leaves, grass, branches no larger than two inches in diameter and other vegetative material suitable for composting at the site. Incoming material must be loose; no plastic bags, no contaminates, no trash or fencing material. Residents must show a valid driver’s license or state-issued ID card as proof of residency.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI — The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Veterans’ Day Holiday on Monday, November 11, 2024 there will be no rubbish or yard waste collection. Monday’s rubbish and yard waste will be collected on Tuesday, November 12, 2024 and collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day. Residents are asked to have containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.

Bulky item collection remains the same, collection Friday, November 15, 2024.

East Providence, RI – U.S. Senators Jack Reed and Sheldon Whitehouse and Congressmen Seth Magaziner and Gabe Amo visited PACE Organization of Rhode Island to highlight additional prescription drug savings on the way for Rhode Island seniors thanks to Democrats’ Inflation Reduction Act. The delegation also encouraged seniors to maximize their savings by taking advantage of the Medicare open enrollment period, which runs through December 7.

Last Week, East Providence High School transformed into a vibrant hub of cultural celebration as the Foundation of Indian Americans - New England (“FIA-NE”) hosted its Grand Diwali Celebration.
The event featured a spectacular music concert by renowned singer Kailash Kher as well as a massive food donation drive inaugurated by East. Providence Mayor Bob DaSilva and Consul General of India, New York Binaya S. Pradhan
to spread the bounty and joy of Diwali to the broader American community.
