Mayor DaSilva reaffirms commitment to Diversity, Equity, Inclusion and Accessibility

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – In response to President Donald J. Trump’s Executive Order aiming to end diversity, equity and inclusion programs within the federal government, Mayor Bob DaSilva signed a proclamation during Wednesday’s Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Commemorative Program affirming the city’s commitment to supporting these programs and the residents of East Providence.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Dept. of Public Works has announced that due to the Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. holiday there will be no rubbish collection on Monday, Jan. 20, 2025. Monday’s rubbish will be collected on Tuesday, Jan. 21, 2025 and rubbish collections for the remainder of the week will be delayed by one day.

Residents are asked to have rubbish containers at the curb by 6 a.m. for collection.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—The City of East Providence is urging and warning residents to be more mindful of their recycling habits and their detrimental impact on both the environment and their own wallets.

In 2024, the City of East Providence had more than 2 million pounds of rejected recyclable waste, all of which ended up being dumped in the landfill, costing East Providence taxpayers $91,264.92.
