PROVIDENCE, R.I. – Attorney General Peter F. Neronha, joined by Governor Daniel J. McKee, announced today that Rhode Island will join the national opioid settlement with three major opioid distributors that will provide over $90 million in funding for state and local efforts to address Rhode Island’s opioid crisis.

East Providence will be 1st Rhode Island municipality to hire a community response social worker

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The City of East Providence Senior and Recreation Centers will extend the closure and cancellation of most programs effective immediately, under Executive Order 2022-002, due to the continued prevalence and transmissibility of the COVID-19 Omicron variant and the increased number of COVID-19 positive cases.

The closures and cancellations will be extended until Jan. 28, 2022 and will be re-evaluated at that time. The move is in an attempt to #StopTheSpread of the virus.

New testing site to open at East Providence’s Fuller Library

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – A new testing site will open in East Providence. Gov. Dan McKee announced on Monday that the state will open a walk-through rapid test site with 260 daily appointments at East Providence’s Fuller Library.

The new testing site, located at 260 Dover Ave., will be open seven days per week from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m., beginning Wednesday, January 12, 2022.
