EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – The East Providence Department of Recreation is currently accepting applications for the Dorman “Dolly” Searle Memorial Scholarship. The scholarship is awarded annually to city residents who are graduating seniors of an accredited high school. Mr. Searle was a long-time East Providence municipal employee who dedicated himself to the development of youth in this community. Awards in the amount of $1,000.00 are available.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI—Mayor Bob DaSilva has announced Capt. Michael Rapoza has been promoted to Deputy Chief of the East Providence Police Department.
Captain Rapoza is a 20-year veteran of the department. Rapoza first joined the department in 2005 and was assigned to the patrol division, where he served as a patrol officer until being transferred to the Special Investigations Unit in 2014.
The City of East Providence, in accordance with Rhode Island State Statute 44-5-11.6, is in the process of completing the final stage of the property revaluation. The purpose of this state-mandated revaluation is to align the assessed values of properties city-wide with current market values and ensure that property assessments are fair and equitable.

EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – East Providence Police Dept. Chief Christopher Francesconi, who was appointed by Mayor Bob DaSilva as Chief in 2021, will retire effective the first week of April.
Francesconi is a 25-year veteran of the Department. He began his career as a patrol officer in 2000, was promoted to sergeant in 2010, lieutenant in 2014, captain in 2016, deputy chief in 2019 and Chief in 2021.
