Welcome to the City of East Providence Finance Department. The mission of the Finance Department is to ensure the integrity and accuracy of the City's financial transactions in accordance with applicable accounting standards, Article IV of the East Providence City Charter, state statutes and federal laws.
The finance director reports directly to the mayor providing accurate and reliable financial reporting to he and his administration, the City Council and its committees, external auditors, Rhode Island Department of Municipal Affairs, bond creditors, taxpayers and the general public. The Finance Department is responsible for authorizing the disbursement of all City money, assessment and collection of taxes, procurement of goods and services, preparing and administering the annual budget and for accounting of all financial transactions to insure fiscal responsibility and stability. There are three divisions organized under the Finance department - controllers, assessment and tax collection.
