Child Molestation suspect arrested
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – On November 17, 2020, Derrick Mauricio, a 38-year-old Pawtucket resident, was taken into custody by the Rhode Island Violent Fugitive Task Force on an outstanding East Providence Police Department arrest warrant for four counts of First Degree Child Molestation and three counts of Second Degree Child Molestation.
In August of this year, members of the East Providence Police Detective Division were contacted by Boynton Beach Police Department about a juvenile female who had reported being sexually assaulted in the Boyton Beach PD jurisdiction. During the course of the Boynton Beach police investigation, the victim disclosed to police that the same suspect continually sexually assaulted her from 2013 to 2017 while she lived with her mother in Rhode Island.
Members of the East Providence Police Detective Division interviewed the victim in Florida with the assistance of Boynton Beach police. During the interview, sufficient evidence was obtained for an arrest warrant to be issued by the East Providence Police Dept.
Boynton Beach police continue their investigation into sexual assaults which occurred in their jurisdiction. There is the possibility that there may be other victims within Rhode Island and Florida. If you believe you are a victim of an assault/molestation by this suspect please contact the East Providence Police Detective Division. The incident is still being investigated at this time. There is no further information to be released at this time.
