The East Providence Fire Department will be conducting training in the area of: Abbott Street, Humphrey Street, Luther Street, Marsh Street, and State Street.
Training will take place in various houses that are slated for demolition.
Training will begin on September 19, 2024. Training will be limited to weekdays, and only in one building at a time, prior to its demolition.
Do not be concerned if you see fire apparatus and/or fire personnel operating in those areas. Fire department training in acquired structures is important for many reasons including:
-Safety: Training helps firefighters recognize and respond to hazards, which reduces the risk of injury or death
-Efficiency: Training helps firefighters respond more efficiently, which reduces property damage
-Training helps firefighters develop critical thinking skills that can strengthen decision making in real world situations
-Training is a core aspect of ensuring public safety
-Training helps firefighters build confidence and teamwork
-Training makes us better prepared to serve our community
The East Providence Fire Department is grateful for this opportunity and for the support of our residents.
