Fire Fighter/EMT - Pay grade 37 - $55,477 - $66,276

Perform skilled firefighting work in combating, extinguishing, and preventing fires; in rendering medical assistance at medical and other emergency scenes; and in operating and maintaining Fire Department equipment, apparatus, and work environment.

MINIMUM REQUIREMENTS TO APPLY:

 Must be at least 21 years of age by the completion of the Fire Academy (April 2022)
 Must be a United States Citizen, and furnish a birth certificate or certificate of naturalization.
 Must possess and furnish a copy of valid driver’s license.
 Must possess a High School Diploma or General Education Diploma (GED).
 Successful completion of the Rhode Island Association of Fire Chiefs Physical Performance Assessment (PPA) (PPA certifications obtained within one year of the application end date will be accepted).
 Must be able to obtain Rhode Island Emergency Medical Technician Basic Certification while attending the East Providence Fire Academy.

60% Written
40% Oral
The minimum passing score required on both examinations shall be 70 points.

Current resident candidates may receive one point for each consecutive year that such candidate has been a resident of the city up to a maximum of five points. Veteran-candidates may receive four points or five points for a post-9/11 veteran-candidate, up to a maximum of five points.
