EAST PROVIDENCE, R.I. – The East Providence 250 Commission is offering free Historic East Providence Bus Tours as part of the city's semiquincentennial celebrations.
The tours will visit homes and cemeteries connected to East Providence residents who supported American independence during the Revolutionary War. Participants will learn about local soldiers and patriots and their contributions to the nation's founding.
The tour was researched and developed by local historian and East Providence 250 Commission Vice Chair Sandra Turgeon.
Tours will be offered on September 26, with departures at 10:30 a.m. and 1 p.m.
Both tours follow the same route, and registration opens two weeks on September 12.
Seating is limited.
Tours depart from Hunt’s Mills. Free parking is available, and participants should arrive 15 minutes before departure. The event is family-friendly and accessible, with ADA-compliant buses equipped with wheelchair ramps and designated spaces.
Appointed by Mayor Bob DaSilva, the East Providence 250 Commission coordinates events and programs commemorating the 250th anniversary of American independence.
