Department of Municipal Integrity 

The Municipal Integrity Officer is responsible for receiving and reviewing concerns related to civil rights, equal employment opportunity, and workplace conduct. This includes allegations of discrimination or harassment based on race, gender, age (over 40), color, religion, national origin, sexual orientation, gender identity, or disability.

When a concern is submitted, it is carefully reviewed and investigated. If there is reason to believe that a violation may have occurred, the relevant department administrator or supervisor will be notified. When the allegation involves a department administrator or supervisor, the Municipal Integrity Officer will consult with and refer the matter to the Mayor for appropriate next steps. After completing the review, the Municipal Integrity Officer provides findings along with recommendations aimed at addressing and resolving the matter.

The Municipal Integrity Officer also plays an important role in supporting recruitment efforts for the East Providence Police and Fire Departments. This includes participating in interviews, meeting with recruitment teams, reviewing applications and recruitment materials, and assisting with the development of outreach and advertising.
