The City of East Providence, in accordance with Rhode Island State Statute 44-5-11.6, is in the process of completing the final stage of the property revaluation. The purpose of this state-mandated revaluation is to align the assessed values of properties city-wide with current market values and ensure that property assessments are fair and equitable.
Notices have been mailed to all property owners in the City. These notices inform property owners of their updated assessed values, which reflect the full value of their property based on a study of 2023 and 2024 market data trends, as well as property inspections conducted over the past year. The new valuation is effective as of December 31, 2024, and will apply to the 2025 tax bill. Please note that this value should not be multiplied by the current tax rate. The city will determine a new, lower tax rate before certifying the 2025 tax roll. Additionally, keep in mind that the new assessed value on the notice does not reflect any exemptions or tax agreements you may be entitled to. These will be applied before the 2025 tax bills are issued.
The notice includes a website where property owners can review their property data, assessed value, and compare it with other properties. We encourage all property owners to take advantage of this opportunity to ensure they are comfortable with their new assessed values. This part of the process is crucial for property owners to review and discuss their values. For those who wish to discuss their new assessed values, the notice includes instructions, including a phone number and website to contact in order to set up an appointment with a representative from Catalis Tax & CAMA. Appointments will be available throughout the month of April.
The City Assessor’s office and Catalis Tax & CAMA would like to THANK property owners for their patience and participation throughout the revaluation process. For any questions or concerns, feel free to contact the Assessor’s office at 401-435-7500 ext. 11061 or email sfrew@eastprovidenceri.gov.
