MEMBER SERVICES REPRESENTATIVE – PART TIME
$16.65 PER HOUR / NO BENEFITS
SUMMARY: Under the supervision of the Director of the Senior Center, the Members Services
Representative serves as receptionist to Senior Center members and guests. The Members Services
Representative answers incoming telephone calls and assists members and guests with
memberships and renewals. The Members Services Representative works three days per week
(12:00 pm to 4:00 pm) and may be asked to fill in when coverage is needed.
ESSENTIAL DUTIES AND RESPONSIBILITIES:
• Greets members and visitors to the Senior Center.
• Provides general information regarding services of the City of East Providence and Senior
Center activities and programs.
• Directs individuals to appropriate department or person that can best serve their needs.
• Monitors the front desk making sure all who come into the Senior Center for activities scan
their membership card upon entering the building.
• Monitor class and event sign up sheets that require limited participation.
• Collect fees for both classes that require a fee and memberships.
• Take and maintain transportation reservations.
• Provides, maintains, and updates membership forms in the My Senior Center database.
• Issues membership scan cards and parking passes to new members and for those who need
replacements.
• Makes and serves afternoon coffee at coffee bar.
• Writes next day’s schedule on the white board in the lobby.
• Assists Senior Center volunteers as needed.
• Greets and receives members and visitors when the Center is activated as an emergency
cooling or warming center.
• Keeps all member information both verbal and in writing confidential.
• Performs related duties as required.
PREFFERED KNOWLEDGE, SKILLS, EXPERIENCE, AND ABILITIES:
• Knowledge of functions and activities of the City of East Providence and the Senior Center.
• Experience providing customer service.
• Experience using office equipment, including multi-line telephones, photocopiers, fax
machines, and computers.
• Experience using Microsoft Office.
• Ability to maintain confidentiality.
• Ability to establish and maintain effective working relationships with coworkers, city officials,
volunteers, members and the public.
• Proficiency in oral and written communication.
• Ability to maintain records and files with precision and accuracy.
• Bilingual ability (Portuguese or Spanish) preferred.
MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS:
• High School diploma or equivalent (GED).
• If selected, the candidate will be required to pass a BCI (Criminal Investigation).
