City Council Authorizes Mayor’s Request to Complete South Broadway and Martin Street Utility Improvements and Paving

On Tuesday, April 21, 2026, the City Council authorized the Mayor to enter into contracts with W. Walsh Company and Pawtucket Hot Mix Asphalt to finalize critical utility rehabilitation and roadway restoration along South Broadway and Martin Street. The $1,700,000 project, funded through reallocated capital funds, includes water main cleaning and lining as well as full paving. This investment significantly upgrades the city’s aging infrastructure and improves water quality and reliability for residents and businesses. It also reduces future maintenance costs while enhancing traffic safety and neighborhood appeal in these vital corridors. As a result, East Providence is becoming a stronger and more resilient community.
