We warmly invite you to join us for an Opening Reception celebrating Onna Moniz-John’s work on August 11 at 1:30 PM. This event will coincide with Victory Day on August 12.

The East Providence Historical Society is proud to announce the exhibition of East Providence’s own Onna Moniz-John and her unparalleled collection of local and national Black heritage artifacts. This exhibition will showcase a diverse array of Onna’s favorite pieces displayed at the John Hunt House and the Education Center. There will also be a special exhibit dedicated to the men and women who served in the military, 1st RI Regiment through the Vietnam War. From humble salt and pepper shakers, original posters and news clippings, to poignant items like slave shackles, the exhibition will highlight many pivotal moments in Black history.
