FEB. 13, 2024 UPDATE: City Hall will be closed today.
Due to the impending snowstorm, we will be implementing a parking ban beginning TONIGHT, February 12 at 7 PM until further notice.
This time allows our residents adequate time to get their vehicles off the road safely and it also allows our DPW crews to begin pre-treating our roads before the storm. We have dedicated parking lots throughout the city where you can leave your vehicle during the parking ban.

TRASH/RECYCLING UPDATE:
East Providence will be canceling trash and recycling collection for Tuesday, February 13th. Resulting in a one-day delay for the week. Tuesday's collection will be Wednesday and so on.
SCHOOL CANCELLATION UPDATE: Message from East Providence School Department
There will be no school in East Providence tomorrow. All schools will have a snow day with the exception of Waddington Elementary. Waddington will have a distance learning day to make up for the missed day In September.
With this snow day and the cancellation of the January professional development day, the final day of school will remain on Friday, June 14th for all schools
Weather Highlights:(Winter Storm/Tuesday)
This will be a short-duration but high-impact winter storm Tuesday, with the heaviest snowfall approximately from 9 AM to 3 PM.
Axis of heaviest snow has shifted southward into CT, RI and along/south of the Mass Pike.
Arrival of snow is slightly slower/later, between 4 AM and 8 AM Tuesday.
Winter Storm Watches for southern RI and southeast MA have been upgraded to Winter Storm Warnings for increased confidence in 6+ inches of snowfall.
Dangerous travel anticipated with widespread 1-2" per hour snowfall rates possible Tue AM through the afternoon. May even have brief instances of 3-4" per hour rates.
Wet snow & strong winds along the coast may result in power outages.
Forecast:
Monday: Sunny High near 48, West wind at 3 to 6 mph.
Mon.Night: Cloudy then rain showers after 3 am changing to snow before 6 am. Temperature around 32. Northeast winds 5 to 10 mph.
Tuesday: Wet snow and could be heavy at times from 9 am to 3 pm. High near 35 degrees. Northeast winds 15 to 20 mph gusts to 35 mph.
Tue.Night: Snow showers with temperatures dropping to 22 degrees. Northwest winds 10 to 15 mph

North: 12 to 14 inches possible.
Central: 8 to 12 inches
South: 3 to 6 inches
Marine:
Gale Warning in effect from 7 am Tuesday to 1 am Wednesday.
North winds 20 to 30 kt with gusts up to 45 kt and seas 6 to 11 feet expected.
