Rhode Island family opens new East Providence Brazilian steakhouse
EAST PROVIDENCE, RI – Gustavo Da Silva and his family today opened the doors to Minas Café – Brazilian Steakhouse II.
The restaurant, located at 315 Waterman Ave. in East Providence, focuses on Brazilian fare. “There’s a lot of interest in our cuisine,” Gustavo Da Silva said. “People would travel from Providence and East Providence to our restaurant in Norwood so we decided the time was right and we chose East Providence.”
“We couldn’t do it without the help from everyone here including my father, my brothers and everyone who has worked hard behind the scenes to make this happen,” Da Silva said just before cutting the ribbon on his new venture. “We are going to get to work and are happy to be here in this great city.”
The Da Silva family, who are from the Rio Grande do Sul and Santa Catarina areas of Brazil, have owned Minas Café in Norwood for 18 years. They are no strangers to the culinary arts. Isaac Da Silva Neto, Da Silva’s father, has spent a combined 40 years in the culinary arts between Brazil and the United States.
“We are delighted to welcome Minas Café here in East Providence,” Mayor Bob DaSilva said. “We wish the Da Silva family good luck and good fortune on their new endeavor.”
