The Zoning Office handles review of all building permit applications to ensure compliance with the City’s zoning regulations. In addition, the office handles all complaints of a zoning nature, verifying the veracity of said complaints and issuing Notices of Violation. Compliance is assured, even if necessitating prosecution be fore the City’s Municipal Court. The office is also responsible for all applications to the Zoning Board of Review. This includes meeting with the petitioner(s), reviewing the submission materials, preparing agendas, abutter notification and advertisement, as well as ensuring that all pertinent departmental review is completed. The office attends all ZBR meetings to address any technical questions and provide guidance in regard to the specified petitions. The office is also responsible for preparation of all respective meeting minutes and decisions.
The Zoning Office is a subdivision in the Building Department, under the Department of Public Works. The Zoning Office is located in the City Hall on the 2nd floor. Staff is available Monday through Friday 8am to 4pm.
