We would like to invite the entire East Providence Community to our 7th Annual Christmas Community Dinner. This event is held on Christmas Day from 12 to 5 at the Brightridge Club, at 59 Brightridge Ave. When we started this event 7 years ago we wanted to make sure that the homeless had a place to stay warm and receive a free hot meal. We have grown from serving 70 people in the first year to almost 500 people. Over the years we realized that not just the homeless needed a hot meal. Living in East Providence we have a very large elderly population. Some of them have no family and were in their house and had no one to share this day with. In 2019 we made a few changes and now this Community Dinner is exactly that. We are inviting the community to join us on Christmas Day for a great meal. The Brightridge Club has donated the hall to us as they have done so every year. Not only are we providing a hot meal (Soup, Turkey and Ham with all the trimmings and a few other items, of course, dessert), but we also provide clothing. We have hats, gloves, socks, coats and gently used clothing. We will also provide bags filled with toiletries, such as shampoo, conditioner, body wash, mouthwash, deodorant and a few other items. We will have toys for the kids as well. This year we will have a barber and a few nail techs. This event would not be possible without the generosity of our community. Thank you to everyone that has donated already. We will also provide transportation to any East Providence Resident. Mayor Dasilva has offered the City Bus and a city driver has volunteered her day to us to pick up our East Providence Residents. We also are looking for volunteers for the day of the event.
