BILLING INFORMATION
Water Charge: What you pay for the water you use. Multiply your consumption by $0.0635 to calculate your water charge.
Fixed Charge (Water): There is an annual fixed charge based on the size of your meter to cover administrative fees for water.
RI Surcharge: This is a surcharge added to water bills by the State of Rhode Island and has nothing to do with the City of East Providence. To calculate the Rhode Island surcharge, multiply total consumption by $0.00218416.
RI Surcharge Exemption: Homeowners age 65 or older may be exempt. Please contact the Treasury Division in City Hall at 435-7544. If you have previously applied, there is no need to reapply.
Sewer Charge:Is based on water consumption less 292 cubic feet times the rate of $0.1315.
Deduct Meter: Meter’s water use that does not go into the sewer system. This metered usage is deducted from water consumption prior to calculating the sewer user charge. Installation of a deduct meter forfeits your 292 cubic foot exemption from your sewer charge.

Interest: Any amount not paid by the due date will be assessed an interest charge at an annual rate of 12%.
***WATER CONSERVATION TIPS***
The City’s Water Utilities Division recommends the following practices to conserve water and help lower your water and sewer charges: check your toilet and fixtures for leaks, take five minute showers, only run the dishwasher when fully loaded, and only do full loads of laundry. If you have a sprinkler system, have it properly winterized and shut down for the winter. A leaking toilet or a broken sprinkler head can waste tens of thousands of cubic feet in a three month period, leading to large water and sewer bills.
