Roadwork Update:
The Rhode Island Department of Transportation is now scheduled to continue the demolition over Waterfront Drive on Sunday, February 28, 2021 weather permitting, with the following night available if needed to finish. With the road being much narrower, RIDOT will have to close Waterfront Drive for safety reasons during demolition, which is scheduled from 10pm Sunday to 6 a.m. Monday, with a signed detour in place using Valley, North Brow, and Massasoit Ave. This will be the last section needing to be completed with lane closures so the remaining deck removal will be during the daytime hours. Additional similar closures will be needed in a few weeks when the steel girders are removed.
Alternating one-way traffic is anticipated on Massasoit Avenue for overnight demolition of the existing westbound bridge deck Sunday and Monday nights from 10 p.m. to 5 a.m. Expect noise and vibrations. Weekdays from 7 a.m. to 3 p.m., we are scheduled to install shielding on the center span of the Henderson Bridge and continue building the access road off Waterfront Drive.
