Ward 1 Councilman and Vice President Frank Rego is a lifelong resident of East Providence, living briefly in Kent Heights before moving to Rumford.
He was raised by the late Luis and Mary Rego, attended St. Margaret School, followed by St. Raphael Academy and graduated from Rhode Island College with a major in Political Science and a minor in Public Administration.
After graduation, he, along with his wife Lisa, continued to live in our fine city and proudly raised three children here: Chelsea, Adam, and Joey.
He owns a local, small business, which has made him fully aware of the challenges and concerns of the local business community. Small businesses are the engine that drives the city, state, and national economy.
When Council Vice President Rego is not running his business or working on the Council, you can find him volunteering his time with the following organizations:
- Rumford Little League – player, coach, manager, board member, and league president
- American Youth Soccer League (AYSO) – coach and board member
- St. Margaret CYO basketball – coach
- Pawtucket Boys and Girls Club – coach (summer RBI baseball) Groden Center Parents and Friends Association – member/volunteer Rumford Lions Club – vice president East Providence Heritage Days – 10-year organizing committee member The Autism Society of Rhode Island – member/volunteer Ward 1 City Democratic Committee – member East Providence Tax Board of Review – member Rhode Island Board of Elections – 13-years, member, Vice-Chair, Chairman
