In May, 2012, The Rhode Island Department of Health (HEALTH) announced that the City of East Providence is now a certified Rhode Island HeartSafe Community.
To earn the HeartSafe designation a community must meet a number of criteria including: training its citizens in CPR, placing Automated External Defibrillators (AEDs) throughout the community and on emergency response vehicles, dispatching Advanced Life Support to appropriate medical emergencies, creating effective emergency response plans for municipal and school buildings, and evaluating and improving the community’s Chain-Of-Survival and overall cardiac health.
East Providence is the 4th community in Rhode Island to earn the HeartSafe designation.
