City Clerk, Samantha Burnett

Samantha Burnett, who was appointed East Providence City Clerk in 2019, serves as the department head for the City's five municipal clerks who provide a number of services. Burnett oversees the maintainance of all required records in accordance with federal, state and local laws. She also overees the maintenance and records all vital statistics and issues various licenses and permits.

Burnett also serves at the pleasure of the East Providence City Council, where she is responsible for the preparation of Council agendas and minutes for regular and special meetings and ensuring all legislative records are kept and maintained with the Rhode Island Secretary of State.

She is a member of the Rhode Island Town and City Clerks Association (RITCCA) and currently serves as fundraising chair for the 2021 term.

When she's not at City Hall, Burnett enjoys volunteering in her community, fishing, cooking and spending time with her family and friends.

Burnett is a graduate of Washington State University and Boston University, where she earned her finance and paralegal degrees. She is currently pursuing her second bachelor’s in forensics accounting at Southern New Hampshire University.
